03/27/2013 SBIR Webinar on Commercialization and Taking your Company to the Next Level

Join SBA and Ash Fontana from AngelList on Wednesday, March 27 at 2PM – 3PM EST for a webinar to discuss commercialization opportunities.

We have heard from many companies and stakeholders that there is an interest in learning more about commercializing. This webinar will help answer questions about the challenges of getting additional capital and finding investors.

Hear from Mr. Fontana, one of the leading experts in the commercialization field on how to take companies to the next level by finding the right investors. He will discuss how to match investors with startups and small businesses, and how to meet, connect, and pitch to potential investors.

Representatives from SBA will also discuss updates to the SBIR/STTR program and the potentials of commercialization.

On Wednesday, March 27th, you may join the web conference 10 minutes prior to 2PM by clicking http://emsp.intellor.com/login/412279

Welcome to my site!

I’ve come to the conclusion that I need to lighten things up around here, and broaden the scope of this blog. Expect to see some changes!

Up until now, I’ve focused my posts exclusively on small business development and how to start your own business. I’ve posted tips, techniques, and even the dreaded tax calendars for the year. I think it’s time to mix some pleasure with the business.

I’ve added a section for photography and light painting. I’m going to be adding a section so you can follow my  latest robotic project, Annabot. My goal with Anna is to develop Smart Wheelchair technology that I can release to the public domain. I’ll share my experiences in e-commerce, and I’ll show you how my wife went from starting a simple cooking blog (www.ApronFreeCooking.com) to publishing a cookbook and having nationally syndicated cooking columns. Of course I’ll keep posting those tax calendars no matter how boring and dreaded they are.

Enough said. Expect changes. Enjoy them. And muddle through the tax calendars.  ;)

How to Create a Professional Site for Your Business and get Google Love

I know that I know what I’m talking about here, but you may not be so sure. In case you’d like to know, just 5 days after my latest site went live, it ranked number one in Google for “Hot Rod Glamour Shots”.  That also happens to be our business slogan. Nice, huh? Really nice. Take a look, then let’s move on. I want to help you make a better looking site for your business, and explain how you can get some Google-love in the process.

What we used to put our site together

We wanted a WordPress theme that screamed “classy”. We wanted an upscale look to LizotteStudios.com. Classy, simple, and a theme that put the focus on our images. We needed something to showcase our photography, but something that would allow us to have private galleries and ecommerce for online proofing and print ordering, as well. We chose the Photocrati theme. It did all of these things very well.
